Meeting of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan with the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka

On February 2, 2024, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Sh.Geldynazarov met with the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Tharaka Balasuriya.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to the further expansion of bilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas were discussed. In particular, it was noted that there is potential for cooperation in such areas as interparliamentary relations, the oil and gas and chemical industries, the transport and logistics sector, the textile industry, tourism and education.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cultural ties between countries. In this regard, the Ambassador noted that this year the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi is solemnly celebrated at the international level, in connection with which 2024 in Turkmenistan has been declared the year - “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi”.
