REGULAR FOREIGN MINISTERS’ MEETING OF THE “CENTRAL ASIA PLUS JAPAN” DIALOGUE TOOK PLACE IN DUSHANBE
On the 18th of May 2019, the Seventh Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue was held in the city residence of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in Dushanbe.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev participated to the session. Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani attended the meeting as the guest of honor.
As is known, in 2004 Japan had initiated a new format of cooperation with the Central Asian countries through the Dialogue “Central Asia plus Japan” aimed at reinforcing the efforts on widening and strengthening closer ties between the countries of the region and Japan, including the development of regional cooperation.
During the past years, the Dialogue has proven to be a reliable and real platform in establishing practical collaboration and cooperation between Japan and Central Asia.
In the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed the cooperation in the spheres of tourism, trade, investment, development and regional security.
In the end of the session, the heads of delegations signed the resulting document “Joint Statement of the Seventh Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue.” / Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan /
