TURKMENISTAN AND JAPAN AIM TO DEVELOP MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL COOPERATION
On May 22, 2019, a meeting was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the respectable Japanese delegation headed by the Chairman of Japanese-Turkmen Committee for Economic Cooperation, Vice-president of “ITOCHU Corporation” Mr. Yoichi Kobayashi who has arrived to Ashgabat to participate to the 13th Joint Session of Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation.
During the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan, particularly in the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. They reiterated that the visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan in 2009 became a vital impulse for the dynamic development of Turkmen-Japanese relations in last years.
The parties thoroughly discussed the large-scale prospective projects and those that are being implemented on the territory of Turkmenistan with participation of Japanese companies, particularly in the gas-chemical and agro industrial sector. The significant role of the Japanese company “ITOCHU Corporation” in the processes of establishing mutually beneficial economic ties was highlighted. The issues of supplying agricultural machinery and automobiles produced by the leading Japanese companies were considered. Also, the issues pertaining to cooperation with the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation «JBIC» were discussed.
In the first half of the day, the Chairman of Japanese-Turkmen Committee for Economic Cooperation, Vice-president of “ITOCHU Corporation” Mr. Yoichi Kobayashi was received by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the open and constructive conversation, the parties discussed the key aspects of Turkmen-Japanese relations, particularly the successful trade and economic collaboration. The guest expressed gratitude to the Head of State for warm wishes addressed to the people of Japan on the occasion of the accession to the throne of Emperor of Japan Naruhito. / Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan /
