BRIEFING DEDICATED TO THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF TURKMENISTAN IN CYCLING
On the 3rd of June 2019, a briefing was held in the Olympic village of Ashgabat in the framework of the World Bicycle Day dedicated to the achievements of Turkmenistan in the field of cycling.
The participants of the briefing expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for his vital contribution in the promotion of the cycling sport in the country, as well as on the world arena. It was noted that the President of Turkmenistan was presented a Certificate of Gratitude for his personal input in the promotion of cycling, as well as the Certificate of the World Guinness Book on attaining the longest one way cyclists’ column record.
The heads and representatives of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, Cycling Federation of Turkmenistan, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), Cycling Federation of Russia, International Group of Companies “Areti,” famous sportsmen, representatives of the social organizations and local mass media, as well as the foreign journalists accredited in Turkmenistan participated to the briefing.
The President of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) David Lappartient, President of the Cycling Federation of Russia V.Yekimov, as well as the World Cycling Champions, Honored Masters of Sports S.Nikitenko and D.Dmitriyev gave speeches during the event.
During the briefing, the efforts of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the process of initiating the World Bicycle Day supported by the member states of the UN General Assembly by adopting the relevant Resolution was particularly noted.
During the event, the decision of the Union Cycliste Internationale on holding the World Track Cycling Championship in Ashgabat in 2021 was also announced that serves as the high appraisal and recognition of the world community of the initiatives of the Turkmen Leader in the area of promoting sport and physical-wellness movement. / Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan /
