Multimedia show at the opening of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan railway received the International AV Award 2017

The Turkmen multimedia project “Afghanistan railway link” won the first place in the nomination “Best Event” at the famous international competition AV Awards 2017, which annually identifies the best projects of the multimedia industry from around the world. The award ceremony took place in the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and gathered more than 1,500 spectators from 38 countries.

The winning project is a multimedia show created for the opening ceremony of the Atamurat-lmamnazar-Akina railway line, which was held in November 2016 on the border between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

A special presentation tent designed for a thousand seats was built for the event. Inside it had volumetric scenery in the form of traditional Turkmen patterns, which were used for projection via the technology of “video mapping”, creating three-dimensional images on physical objects taking into account their shape. To create the effect of “immersion” on the ceiling of thi structure, a kinematic installation of 500 moving and sparkling spheres was created, and a colorful volumetric projection was disolaved on the floor.

The general producer of the show Alexei Samokhin says that the main leitmotif of this project was the visualization of the idea that a railway passing through remote regions of the country brings life, peace and all-round development. The railway route unites residents of border towns and villages, creates a single logistics space, expanding the potential for the development of new markets.

“In our opinion, this project is best suited to the spirit of our ceremony,” says the chairman of the AV Awards jury, Clive Coldwell. - It demonstrates the effective application of multimedia technologies for solving new presentation tasks and involving new audiences from different countries of the world. Our task as a jury is to identify and award exactly such projects.
