THE DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN PARTICIPATED AT THE OSCE MINISTERIAL COUNCIL

The delegation of Turkmenistan attended the 24th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, which was held on December 7-8 in Vienna, Austria. Heads of the ministries of foreign affairs from 57 states of the OSCE region and delegations from 11 Partners for Co-operation took part in the Ministerial Council meeting, which was chaired by OSCE Chairman-in-Office S.Kurz, Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

Security issues in OSCE participating States, prevention of armed conflicts, combating radicalization, extremism and transnational threats, cooperation in the field of environment, gender equality, security of information and communication technologies, and others were discussed during Ministerial Council meeting.

In his speech, the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan outlined the position and vision of Turkmenistan on issues related to all three dimensions of the Organization. At the same time, it was noted that an important element in maintaining the necessary level of security in the OSCE area is an increase in the level of mutual trust at the highest level and the development of dialogue, interaction between peoples of different cultures and civilizations. In this regard, the Turkmen side expressed support for the efforts of the Austrian Chairmanship aimed at strengthening dialogue and confidence in the OSCE.

The head of the Turkmen delegation also said that energy security is one of the main areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in recent years. It was particularly emphasized that in the context of the development of the international transport infrastructure, Turkmenistan stands for closer cooperation and partnership with all OSCE countries. In addition, priority was given to the environmental direction. The head of the delegation of Turkmenistan noted the need to unite efforts in this area at the global, regional and national levels, as well as coordination of actions of each state. He expressed hope for further continuation of constructive cooperation between the OSCE and Turkmenistan.

Following the Ministerial Council, the relevant decisions were taken on the basis of consensus, which determine the OSCE strategy on security and stability issues, the main approaches of the Organization in enhancing the effectiveness of the OSCE, and other equally important aspects in the activities of this organization.
